Vice admiral “Barry” Bharathan former vice chief of Indian Navy retired in Nov. 2006 after nearly 40 years in the Indian Navy. He had been the chief of personnel as well. The postings he enjoyed were command of an anti sub helicopter squadron, a patrol frigate, guided missile destroyer, Indian Naval attache to the US, flag officer sea training, flag officer naval aviation and flag officer commanding eastern fleet. He has taken part in 1971 operations in the western theatre. He is a graduate of the defence services staff college, India as well as naval war college Rhode island, New England, USA . He is BSc (Physics) and MSc (Defence studies). He is the recepient of Vishist seva medal, Athivishist seva medal and the Param vishist seva medal for meritorious service.

Barry is passionate on human resources development and believes in the lasting value of nurturing the human spirit. He has authored papers and articles and continues to do so post retirement. His ' Ways at work ' summary of his thesis is a master piece equally applicable to the armed forces of any country in the world as well as to the corporate world. ( Please read under news section )
